City Transformation

At St Thomas Crookes we have a real desire to see our city transformed.

Simply put, we want people in our city to be able to live life better!  There are all sorts of ways that our cluster and cell groups work towards this goal, but these are three major initiatives within the church - please click on the logos for more details.

Further afield

These are some of the charities and causes supported by members of St Thomas Crookes.

Members of St Thomas Crookes actively support various charities and mission organisations.  For further information please follow the links below or ask the church office to put you in touch with a local contact.

  • The Besom in Sheffield - an organisation that helps people to give time, money and things to those who genuinely need them, as identified by social workers and other professionals.
  • FreeSpirit - a trust that encourages and establishes missionary work in 21st century Britain.
  • Heart of Compassion - a charitable trust that helps children in northern Uganda who are suffering because of ongoing conflict in the region.
  • Open Doors - an organisation that helps and supports Christians who live in places where Christianity is restricted or persecuted.
  • Compassion UK - a Christian child sponsorship organisation.
  • Sidewalk - a mobile youth and children's ministry that takes the Gospel to parks and playgrounds around Sheffield in the form of a kids' club/Sunday school on the back of a van.
  • The Order of Mission - a missionary order that raises up, equips and supports missional leaders throughout the world.
  • Toybox - a charity that helps street children in Latin America, mainly Bolivia and Guatemala.
  • Traidcraft - the UK's leading Fair Trade organisation, which fights poverty through trade.  At St Thomas Crookes there are occasional stalls after Sunday Gatherings selling Fairly Traded food and craft items.  By the way, all of the tea, coffee and sugar consumed at the church is purchased from Fair Trade suppliers.
  • Names Not Numbers - a fundraising and awareness-raising organisation for several small charities that members of the St Thomas Crookes community have commitments to.
  • Open Hands Project - a charity helping to provide accommodation and support for isolated and destitute asylum seekers.
  • Senior Volunteer Network - an educational charity sending experienced teachers on short-term overseas projects.
