Community Church

We are a church for all ages, based around the vision of reaching out to a geographical location (rather than an age group/people group) – mostly in Crookes and surrounding areas but also branching out across the city to Fir Vale and Tinsley.

Here is some information about our communities

Ambassadors for Christ

We are a vibrant group of mixed ages based in the area of Sheffield near the Northern General Hospital – Fir Vale, Grimesthorpe, and Page Hall – and we meet every Wednesday from 7-8pm.

Grace

Grace Cluster is involved with developing the work with senior citizens in Crookes. This includes a monthly Sunday afternoon service; four Festival services followed by tea (Harvest, Advent, Palm Sunday and Pentecost) and other opportunities. We also meet in cell groups and join together on the 3rd Wednesday of each month for praise, testimony and prayer.

Extended Family

Extended Family is made up of people of all ages and at different stages of life. We believe that everyone can belong to God’s bigger family and in our cluster we can be family to each other.

We meet every week on Wednesday nights, three times a month as cell and once as cluster. ‘Meeting and eating’ is a big part of our philosophy and we meet once a month to share a meal together. We enjoy going on outings and taking part in Besom and Love Sheffield projects like litter picking, prayer walking and painting houses.

Simplicity

A community that wants to get back to basics: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your mind…Love your neighbour as yourself.’ (Matthew 22:37-39)

We eat together, pray together and serve together.

We seek to challenge injustice and apathy and inspire one another to become more like Jesus.

We want to see God’s Kingdom come in our lives and in our city

We meet on Wednesdays in cell groups, on Saturday evenings to do Homeless Outreach and on Monday evenings in the summer to tend the ‘Simplicity Garden’.

Tinsley Community

We are a small group of people from St Thomas church who have chosen to live in Tinsley, praying regularly for the area and getting involved in people’s lives.  Tinsley has a large Pakistani Muslim population, also many Eastern European immigrants, and there have been tensions between the different people groups.   We are making friends here, and we are involved in the Tinsley Forum, St Lawrence Church, the local junior school and the Tinsley Green Community Centre.  We have also attended Mosque events, and been given the opportunity to talk about Jesus’ message of love to a full Mosque.   In partnership with these groups our cluster, Xtend, have organised social events, community litter picks and free giveaways, letting people know we care about them and so does God!

X-Cell

We are a friendly all age cluster who support each other in actively reaching out to the communities that we are part of – be that our neighbours, work colleagues, or our local café.

This may involve social events, prayer, or acts of service, all with a view to spreading God’s love, and providing an easy route for people to explore their faith more deeply.

We are realistic about the responsibilities of daily life, but also look for God’s input, and we are passionate about God and spreading God’s love to the people around us.

Xtend

We are a mixed-age cluster – currently 4 cell groups. We love to meet together and hold regular social events to invite our friends to: termly teas, barbecues, cheese & wine evenings, and walks.

We meet 3 times a month as cells and then use the other week to meet as cluster for envisioning, or a social event, or “Get Out and Do Something” (“GODS week”) building relationships with friends.

We are also getting involved with Besom and Love Sheffield.
