22.04.2010 Fir Vale & Crookes Give Aways and Street Cleaning
This May, Love Sheffield will be taking place in two locations. There will be the usual give aways and cleaning at Crookes and we will be doing so in Fir Vale, along with making the local community aware of the BIG SUNDAY event that will be taking place the following day.
Love Sheffield is an initiative ofSt Thomas Crookes. We are always wanting to hear stories of what God is doing, looking for volunteers to get involved or answer any questions you may have.
As Christians, we believe that "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).
Love Sheffield are mission days, run by St Thomas Crookes, which involve serving our local community to show God's love to the people of Sheffield. Different projects and activities happen all day throughout the city including giving away quality chocolates, drinks, flowers, etc; litter picking and street cleaning, homeless outreach, Besom projects, and nightclub outreach.
How Can I Get Involved?
This May, we are excited to annouce the BIG Weekend, which starts on Friday 7th May with a Half Night of Prayer at St Thomas Crookes, in which we will be seeking the Lord in prayer for all that he wants to do at Love Sheffield and in Fir Vale for the BIG Sunday (see below).
On the Saturday 8th May LOVE SHEFFIELD will be taking to the streets of Fir Vale and Crookes to do give aways and clean the streets.
In Fir Vale, in preparation for BIG Sunday, which will be an event run for the local community, we will be also giving away invitations for the community of Fir Vale to come along.
Fir Vale is a deprived community on the North of Sheffield, located near the Northern General Hospital.
If you are wanting to get involved in the Fir Vale Love Sheffield and you drive a car, it would be appreciated if you could offer to take some people who don't drive so we get enough people out there.
